Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been depicting what I see
on my day-to-day journey around Winchester in a series of ink drawings. I’ve
attached a few examples.

Priley Riley, Winchestival, June 2017
I went to Winchestival (a new festival in Winchester) yesterday,
where the sculpture I made of King Alfred the Great was on stage in the disco area.
I really enjoyed making the sculpture, seeing the sculpture at the festival,
and the day out generally (the music, comedy, great atmosphere, etc). So thank
you Winchestival!

Priley Riley, Finished King Alfred sculpture, April 2017
I’ve finished my sculpture and internship- final photos are
attached. I’m pleased with the outcome and, most importantly, so are
Winchestival.
As requested by Winchestival, the sculpture was made to
resemble the statue of King Alfred in Winchester.
On the day of the festival, the King Alfred sculpture will have
a shield that I made, a cape, and headphones to give it a more personalised
festival look.
I designed the shield to look like a vinyl (like the
Winchestival logo) with a turquoise centre to match the colour of the
headphones.
I really enjoyed the internship and look forward to visiting
the festival on the 17th of June.

Priley Riley, Sculpture update, 12th April 2017
I've been coating the sculpture in paint today, with an 'aged iron' affect spray paint. This sculpture internship continues again on the 20th (due to Easter) when I'll give the sculpture another coat of spray paint so it's slightly darker and more even. I'll then cover the paint in clear lacquer to seal it. The attached photos show the sculpture facing towards the setting sun.

Priley Riley, Internship sculpture, April 2017
I’m currently working as a Creative Intern, making a life
size sculpture of King Alfred the Great. The finished work will be on display at
Winchestival- a new family friendly festival in Winchester. So far I’ve
constructed the armature, built the frame of the body around this using two
layers of chicken wire, and covered this in a layer of Modroc (which is
basically plaster coated bandages).
